In Fall of 2015, a rooftop garden was installed using GardenSoxx® at the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Filled with different varieties of lettuce, the GardenSoxx® Green Roof serves two purposes: to provide students with a space to experiment, research, and evaluate the performance of different growing media and to produce vegetables that will be served and enjoyed on campus.
Students at SIUE are already noting the ways in which GardenSoxx® have contributed to their research and are looking forward to continuing to tend to the rooftop garden as it grows through the spring and the coming years.
As a number of students from SIUE have already published scientific study results at various conferences and in peer-reviewed journals, this rooftop garden will allow them to continue moving forward with their necessary research in new and unique ways.
